main research

Our research activities are aimed to understand differentiation and development of plant cell organelles and uncover previously unknown relationships within in-vivo scale biochemical networks. Our approach is a combination of functional proteomics and systems biology: Herein PROTEOMICS has to capture the amounts and modifications of all proteins of a cell or organelle systematically while SYSTEM BIOLOGY provides the analytical framework for this information evaluated by computer-generated models.
The following projects are currently the focus of our work:

  • Characterization of protein import into plastids
  • Characterization of functionality and dynamics of the chloroplast proteome by targeted quantitative proteomics
  • Analysis of the topology and dynamics of plastid phosphorylation networks by phosphoproteomics
  • Coordination of metabolic and cell regulatory functions
    across all compartments
